Upgrade of K9 Infrastructure

 

BAR E.C.E. provided multidisciplinary engineering and design services for the upgrade of K9 infrastructure at five locations across Macedonia, within a project implemented by the OSCE Mission to Skopje in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

 

The assignment formed part of the broader OSCE project supporting national authorities in strengthening operational capacities and infrastructure. The engineering scope covered K9 facilities in Shtip, Gostivar, Strumica, Ohrid and Bogorodica, requiring coordinated design solutions adapted to the conditions and operational requirements of each individual location.

 

Upgrading Infrastructure Across Five Locations

 

The assignment focused on the review and amendment of existing Detailed Designs and preparation of complete, coordinated documentation for the planned infrastructure upgrades.

 

BAR E.C.E. conducted site visits and assessments to verify existing conditions and identify the modifications required for each facility. The findings were incorporated into the updated designs, Bills of Quantities and cost estimates, ensuring that the proposed solutions reflected both actual site conditions and the requirements of the project stakeholders.

 

The planned improvements covered K9 kennel facilities and supporting office infrastructure, including the refurbishment and adaptation of existing buildings as well as new supporting facilities. The designs integrated architectural and structural requirements with electrical installations, ICT and low-voltage systems, water supply and drainage, heating, cooling and other necessary building services.

 

Coordinated Multidisciplinary Design

 

Working across five different sites required a flexible and coordinated multidisciplinary approach. Each location was assessed individually, while common design principles and technical requirements were applied to ensure consistency across the overall programme.

 

BAR E.C.E. combined architectural, civil, structural, electrical and infrastructure engineering expertise to develop coordinated solutions suitable for implementation. Particular attention was given to the integration of the different engineering disciplines, functionality of the facilities and compatibility of the proposed interventions with the existing infrastructure.

 

The updated documentation was developed in coordination with the OSCE Mission to Skopje and representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, incorporating stakeholder requirements and lessons learned from previously completed K9 infrastructure upgrades. The final designs were prepared in accordance with applicable national legislation and the requirements of the assignment.

 

Through this assignment, BAR E.C.E. contributed to the development of functional, reliable and appropriately designed infrastructure for K9 units across Macedonia, providing the technical basis for the subsequent implementation of the planned upgrades.
